Supporting adopters: Provision & evaluation of a post adoption behavioural support service
More dogs are coming into rehoming centres with existing behavioural issues, and whilst rehabilitation within centres is important, the need to effectively match with adopters and provide support once dogs are homed is also key to ensuring dogs find and stay in their new homes. In this presentation, I will discuss the post adoption support service and associated data capture at the UK largest dog charity, Dogs Trust. I’ll focus on the types of issues that adopters face with their new dogs, how they react to these, the extent to which they accept offered advice and support, and adoption success.
